Top Instagram Spots in Santorini

Hey y'all! How is everyone doing today? Today is going to be a crazy busy day where I am away from home the entire day but y'all will find out what I was doing later in the week because it is really good. At least I think it is!

After being in Santorini, Greece, I truly can't believe places like that actually exist because they are out of this world gorgeous! If Santorini is not on your bucket list it should be because I believe that everybody should get to see views like this at some point in their life. Santorini is a photographers dream and with every turn you make there is a new view or site to see that is breathtaking. Santorini is everything we dreamt it would be (and more). Rugged cliffs rise from the Aegean Sea toward white washed villages perched overlooking a volcanic caldera – what more could you ask for. Santorini is the shining star of the Greek Islands. There are black and red sand beaches, blue doors, white building with blue domes, and sunset views that are unbeatable!

Down below I have listed some of the best Instagram and photo spots in Santorini along with some tips that I learned very quickly about how to get the pictures you want to get. I hope each one of you makes it to Santorini to be able to see these incredible views and backgrounds. Hope y'all enjoy!

If you missed any of my Europe trip posts, you can check them all out down below and get caught up!

Here are some places in Santorini for those wanting to go on a little Instagram photo mission!

1. Red Sand Beach/Red Beach (Akrotiri)

2. Santorini Doors

3. Fira, Greece

4. Black Sand Beach (Kamari)

5. Oia, Greece

6. Akrotiri Lighthouse

7. Oia Blue Dome

8. Oia Cross

Here are some tips for those wanting to go on a little Instagram mission during your visit.

Tip 1. Get there early. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that a place as beautiful as Oia is a tourist hotspot. To beat the crowds that flood the tiny streets & alleyways we recommend waking up early. It starts to get busy at around 9am, so make sure you get your shots before then.

Tip 2. Wander off the beaten path. We found that the most Instagram worthy shots were away from the main streets. We recommend getting lost through the tiny, marbled streets to find the best shots. For instance, if you are looking for the famous blue dome shot you will need to walk along the main marble streets of Oia back from the castle, look for a ritzy looking jewelry store on the main street. Walk down the small alley towards the water and you’ll see the domes as you look out to your right.

Tip 3. Go to the castle for sunset. As sunset approaches the crowds pour into Oia from all over the island. We grabbed our spot on the iconic castle walls over an hour before sunset and had one of the best seats in the house! So be sure to arrive early if you want to set up for some shots. If you want to see the sunset from somewhere else, go to Fira and take a seat at any of the many restaurants to watch the sunset over the volcano and the rest of the island of Santorini.

Tip 4. There is more to Santorini than Oia. We recommend hiring out some ATV’s and spend a day exploring the rest of the island. There are some amazing old villages like Emporio, or visit the just as popular town, Fira, for some just as epic views of the caldera, or even the black sand beaches and cliffs in Kamari.

As always thank y'all for stopping by and reading! I will see y'all back here next time!

Love, D
