Hurricane Florence Relief
Hey y'all! How is everyone doing so far this week? I am just slightly stressed out because I have a super busy week with work and school but what is new. But today I am going to hop right into today's post because this is super close to me in so many ways.
If y'all have been watching the news recently you saw that North Carolina was one of the states that was hit by the massive Hurricane Florence. Of course as you know I live in Raleigh so we were in the path of the hurricane but luckily we were not hit as badly as they had predicted. I had friends come into town from Greenville because they were supposed to have worse conditions, including massive flooding. We were lucky in that we only lost power a couple of times but it came back relatively quickly. I appreciate all the people who contacted me to make sure that we were safe!
As for other parts of North Carolina, especially my beautiful coast where I have grown up most of my life, they were not as lucky. It is really tragic and sad to see something like this happen to places that you have spent so much time in and continue to call it home. They have such bad flooding and damage to houses that it will take months to repair and recover from. I wanted to include some different resources that you can go through to help give back and donate your time, money, or supplies to to help so many people get through this difficult time. If you are going to donate, please make sure it is through a well known organization or an organization that you have personally worked through.
Organizations To Donate To:
~WeWilmRebuild (@wewilmrebuild)-- UNCW student led disaster relief and Wilmington rehabilitation project
~Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina-- can donate canned goods and other perishable food items that can be given out to victims of the hurricane
~Salvation Army-- donate any clothing items and goods that can be given to people who no longer have anything
~SPCA and Humane Society-- can foster animals that may have been in the shelters or left behind or even just donate money so they can buy food, treats, beds, and other pet necessities.
~Reach out to your local churches as well as churches in the areas that were affected to see if they are doing anything that you can help out with
*None of these pictures belong to me*
There are so many people and animals that need our help right now and the least that we can do is donate just a little bit of our time, money, or items to help them get through this difficult time and help them rebuild their homes.
Praying for all of those affected by Hurricane Florence and I know we will all get through this!
Love, D
