Netflix Favorites
As a college student of course I have a Netflix account and of course in my free time I spend my time binge watching whatever show I am hooked on at the time. There are so many great things that everybody can find to watch from TV shows to movies and even to documentaries. I just wanted to share some of my favorite Netflix shows and movies that I love, love, love and constantly want to go back and watch.
1. Fuller House (2 seasons) is one of my favorite shows right now because I was in love with the original Full House and even more in love with the new Fuller House. It has such a great story line and it feels so original because the new cast includes everybody from the old Full House including DJ, Stephanie, Kimmy, Uncle Jesse, Joey, and Danny. But also includes DJ's 3 sons Jackson, Max, and Tommy as well as Kimmy's daughter Ramona and husband Fernando.... and even Steve is back! The series centers around D.J. Tanner-Fuller, a veterinarian and widowed mother of three sons, whose sister and best friend—the mother to a teenage daughter—provide support in her sons' upbringings by moving in with her.
2. One Tree Hill (9 seasons) is my ALL time favorite show because there is always something in that show that everybody out there can relate to! You immediately know the show when you hear the distinct sound of Gavin DeGraw's "I Don't Want To Be." The beautiful and significant part about this show is that it takes place right here in North Carolina and more specifically in Wilmington. The show is centered around Basketball, Music, and of course, Romance with everything centering around this small town of Tree Hill, NC where you see Haley, Nathan, Peyton, Brooke, Lucas, Julian, Quinn, Clay, and so many others grow up and figure out what they are doing in life. You see the cast go through high school, issues later in life, having kids, getting married, getting kidnapped, and so much more.
3. Arrow (4 seasons) is my newest obsession and can honestly say that I watched the 1st season in one weekend! I am the kind of person who loves super hero's and all of those kinds of shows like Supergirl, The Flash, but also love all of the Avengers movies. The story line behind the show is complicated but let me tell you everything is explained and you will understand what is going on. Spoiled billionaire playboy Oliver Queen is missing and presumed dead when his yacht is lost at sea. He returns five years later a changed man, determined to clean up the city (Starling City) as a hooded vigilante armed with a bow. Oliver Queen adds on to his team and quickly gains a family in the people he has added on.
4. Gilmore Girls (7 seasons) and Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life (1 season) is a show that you can't not fall in love with because it has been around for so long and is such a big name television show. The show follows single mother Lorelai Gilmore and her daughter Rory living in the fictional town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. The town is filled with colorful characters and is located approximately 30 minutes from Hartford, Connecticut . The series explores issues of family, friendship and romance, as well as generational divides and social class. Ambition, education, work, love, family, and questions of class constitute some of the series' central concerns. The show's social commentary manifests most clearly in Lorelai's difficult relationship with her wealthy, appearance-obsessed parents, Emily and Richard Gilmore, and in Rory's interactions with the students at the Chilton Academy, and later, Yale University. In the last month they have just released 4 episodes on Netflix of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life where it takes you through a whole year and all the seasons of the girls lives and all the changes that occurs.
5. Step Up is a movie you will never get tired of because it is such a great dance movie but also a love movie. It stars Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan and the cool thing is that they are now married today in real life! Set in Baltimore, Maryland, the film follows the tale of the disadvantaged Tyler Gage and the privileged modern dancer Nora Clark, who find themselves paired up in a showcase that determines both of their futures. Realizing that they only have one chance, they finally work together. So, so recommend!!
6. Four Brothers is a great movie and anytime Mark Wahlberg is in a movie I watch it because he is amazing and very attractive! Four adopted brothers return to their Detroit hometown when their mother is murdered and vow to exact revenge on the killers. There are a lot of big names in this movie such as Mark Wahlberg, Tyrese Gibson, Andre Benjamin, Terrence Howard, Sofia Vergara, and Taraji P. Henson. I highly recommend watching this movie because it really is a movie about family and unity.
7. Baby Daddy (5 seasons) is one of the funniest TV shows I have ever watched and one of my favorites that comes on ABC Family or what is now called Freeform! The series follows Ben, a man in his twenties, who gets the surprise of his life when a one-night stand leaves his baby at his doorstep. Ben decides to raise his little girl with the help of his brother, Danny, his two close friends, Riley and Tucker, and his sometimes-overbearing mother, Bonnie. This show really covers everything under the sun like disasterous birthdays, love triangles, pranks, Halloween, Christmas, I mean you name it and they have done it! If you are looking for family comedy this is the thing to watch!
8. The Fast and the Furious is one of my favorite movie series OF ALL TIME! But sadly they only have the The Fast and the Furious (the 1st movie) and Toyko Drift. The movie is all about family but you get to see some pretty amazing and cool cars, those unlike you have ever seen today. Of course there are a lot of big names in this movie including Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, and so many more. This is the movie that sets everything up for the rest of the series that we have watched over the last 16 years and each movie after has proven to have even more drama, cars, and a lot more of family unity. If you want to see some action and a lot of sick cars, I suggest watching this movie, but I warn you once you watch it you will be hooked and will want to watch the rest of the series.
9. Last Man Standing (5 seasons) is another funny sitcom I love to watch and what makes it better is that Tim Allen is the lead character in the show and I am a huge fan of his! The series follows Mike Baxter, a senior executive and director of marketing for an outdoor sporting goods store chain based in Denver, Colorado, whose world is filled by women – especially at home with his wife and three daughters. Now I relate to this so much because at my mom's house it is just the 3 of us girls and we feel bad for whatever guy comes over to hang out. This is another great show to relate to because it follows the issues going on today in the world but also providing some humor!
10. The Italian Job is another movie Mark Wahlberg is in but it also has Charlize Theron, Jason Statham, Mos Def, Donald Sutherland, and Seth Green. After being betrayed and left for dead in Italy, Charlie Croker and his team plan an elaborate gold heist against their former ally. The thing I like about this movie is that you get to see their plan all the way through and along the way get to witness their mistakes and troubles. There are a few laughs but it is cool to see the genius mind behind the whole thing!
11. Hawaii Five-0 (6 seasons) is one of my all time favorite TV shows and even though I keep up with the current episodes that come on every Friday night, I still love to go back and watch the whole series from the very beginning because it is so crazy to see how things change, especially the characters. My favorite part though has to be that it is shot in Hawaii and we get to see some of the most beautiful places that are there! The show is a reboot from the original show that started in 1968 but it still has the same character names but has added a few fresh faces that aren't in the original. The series covers the actions of a small, specialized DPS task force in Hawaii, headed by Lt. Commander Steve McGarrett, USNR. The task force answers only to the Governor of the state of Hawaii and was given immunity and means to investigate crimes ranging from terrorism to kidnapping. McGarrett chooses as his partner Honolulu PDDetective Danny "Danno" Williams. He fills out the team by selecting Chin Ho Kelly, his father's protégé, and Chin's cousin, Kono Kalakaua, a rookie HPD cop. They are assisted by Dr. Max Bergman, a medical examiner for the County of Honolulu, and Jerry Ortega, Chin's high school classmate and a conspiracy theorist. Steve later adds Lou Grover, a former HPD SWAT commander, to the Five-0 team and Catherine Rollins, Steve's girlfriend. If you want to see some action and have some laughs and maybe even some tears over the touching moments, this is the show for you and I HIGHLY encourage it!
